Deon is a occupational hygiene professional with over 40 years of experience across industry, government, and the military. He has led major OHS initiatives, built one of South Africa’s largest occupational hygiene units, and played a key role in professional certification through SAIOH and IOHA. Since 2018, he has served as SAIOH’s General Manager, driving modernization and growth in the profession. His lifelong commitment to excellence, critical thinking, and effective communication has earned him numerous accolades, most notably the 2023 IOHA Lifetime Achievers Award, recognizing his enduring impact on occupational hygiene and public health.

Robert Randolph is the Technical Director at Apex Environmental with over 30 years of experience in occupational hygiene. He holds a Master of Public Health in Occupational Hygiene from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a Registered Occupational Hygienist with SAIOH. Robert has contributed to national policy as a member of several Department of Labour technical committees, including those for the Asbestos Abatement and Hazardous Chemical Agents Regulations. He also serves as a Senior Certification Examiner for SAIOH and is actively involved in standards development through the SANAS Specialist Technical Committee.

Sean Chester is the CEO of Apex Environmental – a leading environmental company in South Africa. Apex Environmental is a Department of Employment and Labour Approved Inspection Authority, and specialises in helping clients with their legal obligations and protecting the health of their employees and the public in general. Sean holds an MPH in Occupational Hygiene from Wits University and is a Registered Occupational Hygienist and a Registered Senior Assessor at the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH). Saving workers lives, through reducing exposures including providing impactful training is a lifelong quest for Sean and partnering with HSE4U forms a part of that journey. Sean’s is an honorary lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Sean has served on the national Department of Health’s and the KwaZulu-Natal provincial governments’ COVID-19 task teams and most recently on the ILC BioHazards Working Group.”
